Building Northern California Since 1998
Berkeley's Premier Commercial General Contracting Services
A licensed commercial general contractor for Berkeley business owners and property managers: one contract, one schedule, one accountable team from preconstruction through final inspection.
The Role
What a Commercial General Contractor Does for You
A commercial general contractor holds one contract for the whole project and takes responsibility for delivering it: pricing the drawings, pulling permits, scheduling and coordinating every trade, managing inspections, and handing over a finished, signed-off space. You deal with one company instead of a dozen.
Wilson General Contracting has been a licensed California general contractor (CSLB #798732) since 1998. We self-perform demolition, framing, drywall and plaster, electrical and plumbing, and subcontract the rest, which keeps the trades that drive most schedules under our direct control. We take prevailing-wage projects and provide a one-year warranty on completed work, with the specifics confirmed in writing per job.
Our Work and Berkeley
Where We Have Built, Stated Plainly
We have not yet completed a published project in Berkeley. The projects shown on this page were completed elsewhere in Northern California: Tracy, Davis, Livermore, Pleasanton, Walnut Creek and San Francisco. We list them so you can judge the standard of our work, not to suggest a Berkeley portfolio we do not have.
Berkeley is inside the roughly 90-minute radius of our Tracy base that we serve, and East Bay projects in Walnut Creek and Pleasanton are already in our portfolio. If you are weighing a contractor who has worked in Berkeley against one who has not, ask us for references from those East Bay jobs.
Scope and Pricing
How We Scope and Price a Berkeley Project
We start with a site walk and your drawings, if you have them, and come back with a free written estimate against a defined scope. For an existing building we identify what is reusable and what the new layout forces you to change; for ground-up or additions we work from your architect's and engineer's documents and flag anything that will not build as drawn.
Permits are issued by the local building department and plan-check and inspection timelines are set by them, not by us. We coordinate submittals and inspections with your design team and keep you informed about what the city requires for your specific project rather than making assumptions in advance.
Before You Call
What to Have Ready
A short first conversation is enough to tell you whether we are the right fit. It goes faster with any of the following:
- The property address and whether you own it or lease it.
- Drawings or a sketch, and the name of your architect or engineer if you have one.
- The intended use and approximate size of the work.
- Your target completion date and anything it is tied to, such as a lease or an opening.
- Whether the project is subject to prevailing wage.

We hired Wilson to install a dog door on an exterior (stucco) wall of our new home. He was very professional. He showed up on time, did the work, and cleaned up afterwards.
Wilson was polite, on time, clean; he was a total professional and I will be hiring him again!
Mr. Wilson and his partner performed a perfect job on repairing my door jam and installing a water filter. The repaired door jam looks new again with no sign it has ever been damaged. The price is very competitive and offers a good value to the money. The official distributor of the water filter quoted twice as much to perform the same job. We paid them $40 tips after the job is well done.
